April: The Sweet Life in Paris

The Sweet Life in Paris Ooh-la-la, Paris in spring! This April we’ll tour La Ville-Lumière, the City of Light, vicariously through pastry chef, cookbook author, and blogger David Lebovitz. Our selection this month is his food memoir of his first years as an expat in France, The Sweet Life in Paris, which was recently named a finalist for the 2010 IACP Best Literary Writing Award. Should your mouth water while you’re reading, there are recipes to satisfy your appetite. Lebovitz worked in the pastry kitchen at Chez Panisse, his dessert cookbooks have earned plenty of praise (Room for Dessert was also an IACP finalist), and he’s written books dedicated to ice cream and chocolate that would appeal to anyone who’s passionate on either subject.

Join us Tuesday evening, April 13, at 6:00pm, at LivonFifth, 2201 5th Avenue South in Birmingham. We’ll have some wine, nibbles, and a fun conversation!

  1. Sorry to contact you via comments — I couldn’t find an email address on your site. I run Flashlight Worthy Book Recommendations (http://www.flashlightworthybooks.com) and wanted to know if you wanted to turn some of your past book selections into a book list for my site.

if you’re interested, drop me a line at info@flashlightworthy.com and I’ll fill you in on the details.

Recommending books so good, they’ll keep you up past your bedtime. 😉
