September: The Particular Sadness of Lemon Cake

Our September book is Aimee Bender‘s second novel: The Particular Sadness of Lemon Cake. The reviews have been good, and so many people are buzzing about this book, we added this to our reading list on a whim. (We’ll pick up with Monsoon Diary in October.) The story is about a nine-year-old girl who discovers that when she eats, she can taste the emotions of the person who made the food.

We’ll meet at 6pm on Tuesday, September 14, at Dreamcakes Bakery, 960 Oxmoor Road in Homewood. (Mmm, lemon cupcakes!)

One more note: We’re starting to consider titles for our 2011 book selection list. If you’ve got any suggestions, leave a comment.

I love reading your blog and I, a fellow foodie, love the concept.

I am interested in putting together a similar bookclub in Boulder, CO. Is there a contact person I could speak to with a few questions about your bookclub? Thank you so much!!

  3. Interesting! I’ve seen the book, but never took the time to see what it was about. I’ll have to check it out.
