Announcing Food Blog South!

Food Blog SouthSave the date for Food Blog South—a food blogging conference being held on Saturday, January 22, at Woodrow Hall in Birmingham. We’ve got an exciting day planned: Jennifer Davick, a photographer for Southern Living, will teach a session on food photography. Alison Lewis, who’s developed recipes for national publications and major food companies (and soon-to-be-published cookbook author), will share how to develop recipes for your blog. Writer Ashley Hall will share her experience traveling along the Gulf coast, blogging about the aftermath of this year’s oil disaster. (She did a Special Gulf Edition of Gravy, the Southern Foodways Alliance newsletter, and got a nod from Francis Lam at Salon.) Wade Kwon of Birmingham Blogging Academy will share keys to successful blogging. Literary agent and PR guru Lisa Ekus will share how to make the journey from blogger to published author. Christy Jordan of Southern Plate (and hopefully soon, a New York Times Bestselling author!) will share the secrets to her success. All that, and we still have exciting slots to fill in our agenda. And of course there will be food… lots of food!

Food Blog South is being put together by some wonderful volunteers from the Foodie Book Club and The Desert Island Supply Company. (My sincere thanks to our wonderful volunteers!) Proceeds from Food Blog South will go to support The Desert Island Supply Company—a writing center for kids that’s based in Woodlawn—and toward efforts to restore the Gulf coast.

Keep up with the latest on www.foodblogsouth.com, and follow us on Twitter @FoodBlogSouth. We hope to see you on January 22!
